Clarksville, Virginia, Food Pantry
About Us
OUR MISSION
-
To solicit, store, and distribute supplemental food for adults, children, and especially seniors, who lack an adequate supply
-
To serve primarily residents in western Mecklenburg County, Virginia (Clarksville, Boydton, Skipwith, Buffalo Junction, and Nelson.)
WHO PROVIDES OUR FOOD?
Our inventory of healthy food is dependent on the generous contributions of caring individuals, families, businesses, churches, civic and other organizations, many of whom contribute food on a monthly basis. Seasonally, the Clarksville Community Garden provides weekly contributions of fresh vegetables -- tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, and squash. Generous individuals regularly deliver eggs and produce boxes. Cash donations from many more individuals and organizations enable food purchases to supplement and balance the contributions. Contributions are tax-deductible.

OUR PARTNERS
Feed More’s programs are dedicated to providing healthy meals and hope for a better tomorrow to Central Virginians who face hunger. As a member of the Feeding America network of food banks, Feed More provides the Clarksville Food Pantry with food products at no cost or at a significantly discounted cost delivered to our door twice each month. Feed More has also recently donated a refrigerator and a freezer to the Pantry.

Our local Food Lion Store supports the Pantry with donations each week of deli products, pastries, and other items that are nearing their sell-by dates. A "Great Pantry Makeover" grant from Food Lion enabled remodeling and reorganization of the Pantry and donation of a glass front refrigerator. At Christmas, local Food Lion customers purchased over 600 "Food Lion Feeds" boxes to be distributed by the Clarksville Food Pantry.

A new partnership in 2021 with Dollar General now provides donations of various food products for distribution to Food Pantry clients twice each week.
